History: The BMT was the successor the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company, who went bankrupt in 1923. In 1940 the BMT subway and elevated lines were amalgamated with the city’s Independent lines and the previously privately-owned IRT to create the modern New York City subway system. We’ve created a BMT cap to go along with our IRT and IND hats.
